Holly Valance - "State Of Mind"

State Of Mind is the first and only single from aussie former music artist Holly Valance's second album with the same name. The track managed to somehow shock the industry, as they were expecting the same bubblegum disco pop Valance presented on her debut album. The more mature, sexual and hard style of the singer only managed to sell properly in Japan where the album reached Gold status. On the UK and Australia the album flopped and the track didn't do so great as it managed to peak at number 8 on the British charts and number 14 on her native country. I personally consider State Of Mind one of those underrated, unsucessful and poptastic songs, so, while we enlist this amazing track in the list of Pop's finest moments, Holly can be seen doing her old job but now in Hollywood, acting on the Dead Or Alive movie and on FOX's Prison Break...

Timbaland Ft. Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtado - "Give It To Me" [World Premiere]

Pissed off. That's what I'm feeling towards the "official music video" for Give It To Me, the collaboration between Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. The song is good enough to do some selling and reach the top of the charts, but it's not that good so they could make the cheesiest, crappiest music video ever. The "video" features footage from their performance at the post (or was it pre?) Grammy party, Justin's FutureSex/LoveTour, Nelly's performance for the video which was shot on the roof of one of the hotels she was staying (not the mention her terrible hairstyle), and the same thing for the guys but on Justin's tour bus... Crap. Everyone could've done that and uploaded it on YouTube! Actually, even my version of the video was better than the official one. And mine wasn't even that good if you recall (well thanks to the Viacom/YouTube slaughter you can't watch it any longer). This was their chance to make something good, something big. Just imagine three big stars, with a big song, in a big video... How impossible is that? Quite, it seems...

Spankin' New Music

We all know Timbaland's first single from Shock Value... Give It To Me is set to release in April. Now, rumoured second single leaked as well, some weeks ago. Throw It On Me features The Hives, and it's a five star song. Rock and Hip Hop fused and this happened...

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger will be releasing her solo material pretty soon. First single Steam already has a video, altough the singer will re-record the song in March.
Ballad I'll Be Your Love was the rumoured second single, although it seems not to be true.

British sensation Natasha Bedingfield also has new material to put out. (I Wanna Have Your) Babies is set to be first single from album NB and the video has already been shot. It's a great song, which actually grown on me...

Former TLC member and Usher's ex-girlfriend Chilli is having a taste of solo work. Sounds nice so far...

Joss Stone is releasing her first single next week, and tracks keep leaking. Put Your Hands On Me is the most recent...
Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now leaked alongside first single... And is as good...

Avril Lavigne's new single Girlfriend has officially premiered. What we haven't officially heard yet was the song's spanglish, Japanese and Mandarin versions...

Former Destiny's Child Kelly Rowland has been workin' and reworkin' her second solo effort... Like This features rapper Eve, and it sounds like this...

Sean Paul also has a new album coming out as well as a collaboration with Rihanna. Track Beat Like Drum has leaked, and it's wonderfully cacthy...

Shakira's most recent leaked track Pure Intuition is a new English version of the released Las De La Intución, and you may have heard it on the new Seat commercial.

R'n'B queen Beyoncé
is re-releasing her B'Day in April. The album will feature spanish versions of the album's singles as well as the following unreleased tracks...

Highlights of the evening includes DeGeneres vacuum-cleaning the floor, taking pictures with Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg or handing Oscar winner Martin Scorsese a script of her own. Big winners include The Departed, Little Miss Sunshine, The Queen and Pan's Labyrinth, and Dreamgirls made the best song performance ever on the Academy Awards... Avril Lavigne - "Girlfriend" [Video Premiere]

Punk/Pop motherf*****g princess is back, with her most girlie single to date. With brand new blond/pink hair and skirts, Avril is surely claiming "Hey I'm actually a girl..." Not to mention she's very well married... or that Girlfriend is very very remeniscing of Toni Basil's only hit Mickey, which is the most girlie song ever heard on Earth. Avril didn't turned a cheerleader on this one (I think she should... Gwen did it, she was a rock star, it worked...), but she manages to play not one, not two, but three characters on the music video. And with three (well, four if we count pink too) different haircolours! She plays a red-head neardy girl who is the leading boy's actual girlfriend, a punk brunette who dislikes the red-head but likes the latter's boyfriend, and the blondish (did I mentioned pink already?) Avril herself who actually gets the boy in the end... It's sounds nice, it looks nice... Not that complicated now eh?

The Platinum Chart [Week 299]

It's time for this week's chart, the week which 3 spectacular new videos premiered, Avril's Girlfriend, Christina's Candyman and Ciara's Like a Boy...
On The Platinum Chart there's three new entries by Gwen Stefani (it's Akon's third single on the chart!), Kelis and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers, My Chemical Romance and Robbie Williams all dropped some serious positions and are now all stuck together on the bottom of the top 30; Akon is now smacking it out of the top 20, Beyoncé puts her two singles very together as she listens the top 15 and is replaced on the top 10; Fall Out Boy bring an arms race close to the top 10, Mika threatens the top 5 and U2 gone through the window and are now in the sky. On the Bubbling Under Chart everything's pretty the same (again!), altough we have two new entries there. Thus, Cascada is still on the top spot, for the 6th consecutive week!

Christina Aguilera - "Candyman" [Video Premiere]

Originally set to premiere on February 21st, Christina Aguilera's new video Candyman arrived to the public eye with a very posh entrance. There's nothing more hip than arriving late. Premiering on MTV's screaming teens' show TRL, Candyman rapidly found its way to the blogosphere with everyone totally loving it and claiming it's the best video ever... Well, after watching TRL's Sneak Peek of the video I thought so too, but now that the full video arrived, I must say I'm a bit disappointed. Though it's not bad at all, it's quite good actually, but still, it doesn't have much of that flow her previous Ain't No Other Man had. All I'm sayin' is... a few airplanes wouldn't go wrong... Now, the song is very good indeed... Somewhat of a follow up to Back To Basics' first single, Candyman pays off by being irresistibly catchy...

Ciara - "Like a Boy" [Video Premiere]

Some time ago, a poll on Ciara's MySpace page was asking her fans their opinion on which should be her next single. Like a Boy eventually won the poll and became Ciara's second US single of her second album Ciara : The Evolution. In the UK, Europe and Asia (most probably elsewhere, except Nothern America), the track will be the actual first single release from The Evolution. Awesomely 5 star piece of wonder music Promise should be following it as second single. Like a Boy is a bit similiar to Keshia Chanté's Been Gone, but, much more experimental, fresh, sophisticated and better. The video follows Promise on the use of amazing choreographies and sets, although this one comes in black and white. I say, Ciara here is quite evolving the music business...

Kelis - "Young, Fresh n' New"

Back in 2001, Kelis released her second album Wanderland, which was produced by The Neptunes, like her debut Kaleidoscope was. If you remember Kaleidoscope you must remember the sassy "I hate you so much right now"... Now, do you remember 2001's Wanderland? Probably not. That's because it's Kelis' most unsuccessful album to date. It wasn't even released on the U.S. due to poor sales of first and only single Young, Fresh n' New. The track failed to chart on Northern American ground, but made its way to a British number 32. The album didn't spawned any more singles, probably because the first single flopped, but also because the label and Kelis herself disliked the album. Well, if you ask me why Young, Fresh n' New flopped, I'd say it was probably because of lack of promotion. They just didn't cared much about it. The track is one of Pop's greatest moments (at least I think so) and the video was quite fresh and innovative, and, read and underline this, it featured Heidi Klum! So... with all those ingredients, it should be more than a mere number 32 huh?

Da1000's Carnival Tour 2007 - Colombia

Since celebrations has started all over the world, I decided to celebrate Carnival (or Mardi Gras, whatever you call it) on my blog too. So, it's time for another Da1000 Tour! My 2007 Carnival Tour will be a short 3-day Tour, and we'll check out some countries where Carnival deserves a big big party. Starting in Latin America, let's check out Colombia. Of course, I couldn't possibly let this one out. She introduced Colombian Carnival celebrations to us, so... Plus, it was a big hit. Let's check out how Colombians do it in Shakira's video for her hit single Hips Don't Lie... (By the way, the track features Wyclef Jean you know...)

Shakira Ft. Wyclef Jean - Hips Don't Lie

Seems quite fun... It seems it's how they do by this time of the year in Barranquilla (which is Shakira's home town... Oh, and Wyclef is from Tahiti if you didn't noticed...)
Below you can download Shakira's performance in this year's Grammy Awards... She went from Barranquilla to India, but it sounds hot anyway...

Plus, here's fan made video of the Carnival of Barranquilla for a more clear view of it ;)

Tomorrow we'll comeback for another Carnival party... Stay tuned...

The Platinum Chart [Week 298]

Another week just got through, so it's time for a new chart. Today seems to be big in news... Apart from a brand new chart, recent news tell that Britney shaved her hair (I've seen the photos, they're pretty real...), MTV's TRL might be cancelled very very soon, and the Spice Girls are up to a reunion... So, off to the charts...
This week new releases by Lady Sovereign, Jessica Simpson and The Pussycat Dolls are new to the chart, the girls from All Saints drop steady, and so does Robbie Williams. Beyoncé get a second top 20 hit, Jamelia bites her way to the top 15, Akon is back on the top 10 and U2 get a window in the skies. On the Bubbling Under Chart, Cascada is still on the lead and everything's pretty the same with the exception of the three new entries... Alright, I'm to partying as we're celebrating Carnival... I'll show you some pictures later on.. hopefully... Have fun!

Amerie vs. Faith Evans - "1 Like This" (DJ Nicky T Remix)

This is another video Da1000 Production. I took one of my favurite mash-ups around and made it a video. DJ Nicky T perfectly mashed up Amerie's biggest hit to date 1 Thing, with Faith Evans funky classic Love Like This. One of the funkiest mash-ups ever, 1 Like This (titled by me) could be a great hit if it was released if you ask me... The quality of Faith's video wasn't that good, so her parts in the mash-up video are a bit LQ. But judge for yourself :D

Jamelia - "No More"

Jamelia's video for the follow up to the powerful Beware Of The Dog single has just been released. No More is the third single from Walk With Me, and just like the previous second single, heavily samples a hit from the past. Golden Brown by The Stranglers is now the sampled track and if No More follows Beware Of The Dog's footsteps, it should cause more controversy around Jamelia and her songwriting skills. If you recall as I do, Jamelia was very criticized to use a sample of Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus. Although the track is a masterpiece (at least, I think so), it was only a moderate hit scoring a number 10 on the UK Charts. No More is as good as Beware Of The Dog, and I hope it'll peak a bit higher on the charts so Jamelia have another top 5 hit (just because she deserves it). It will be released after Girls Aloud vs. Sugababes' Walk This Way, and in the same week as Fergie's Glamorous and Hilary Duff's With Love, so I don't think it has a very strong competition. The video is somewhat representative of the song. It first shows Jamelia lying in bed, possibly feeling bad about a break-up, and then we can see she leaves it all behind gets up and does a hell of a performance. Pretty brilliant...

Mandy Moore - "In My Pocket"

Back in 2001, when pop was in it's peak and acts like Britney Spears, N'Sync and Jessica Simpson were selling records after records, Mandy Moore released her third album and single In My Pocket was premiered on TRL if I recall. Although she changed her style from bubblegum pop to a more risqué style to keep up with the competition, the track completely flopped peaking only at number 140 on the US (although it reached number 11 in Australia). I remember it had heavy rotation on MTV Europe, but still, it didn't sold much. I personally consider this song one of Pop's finest moments although it is still underrated. Second single Crush was a moderate hit on radios, and was a favourite on MTV's TRL. Mandy pushed her music career to a second plan focusing on her acting. She will know release a new album after a 4 year absence, pursuing a more rock/indie sound which we can compare with Michelle Branch or Liz Phair.

Jibbs Ft. Melody Thornton (of The Pussycat Dolls)- "Go Too Far"

Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton is following fellow Nicole Scherzinger's paw prints into the solo career business. Nicole has been collaborating with several artists like Shaggy, Will Smith, Avant or Diddy, and now Melody teamed up with rapper Jibbs for his third single Go Too Far. The track is an hip hop update of Janet Jackson's Let's Wait a While (the chorus is sampled on Jibbs' version), and it's a rather good hip hop track if you ask me. Melody does a nice job and actually sings in a low key (there's no trace of her powerful back-ups on The Pussycat Dolls' repertoire). Melody is also releasing a solo album, just like Nicole. The Beginning is set to release around the same time as Nicole's solo album, and it's produced by Darkchild, Timbaland, Will.i.am and Pharrell Williams. Her first single is rumoured to be True Love Lasts and will feature Pharrell. While we wait for any of her tracks to leak, we can listen to Nicole's Steam (awesome track by the way) and this collaboration with Jibbs... Enjoy!

Da1000 - "Living On Buttons" (The Pussycat Dolls vs. Pakito)

After premiering the first taste of my mash-up album two months ago, it's time to present you the official first single from Future Sound Booster. The album features popular dance tracks, mashed-up with the acapella versions of today's most popular hits. For the first single I've used french DJ Pakito's hit single Living On Video and mashed it with The Pussycat Dolls' fourth single from their debut album PCD, Buttons. Culminating on a 3:20 minutes wonder bootleg, Living On Buttons was actually one of the easier to produce. Nevertheless, it's the one that is more catchy and addictive. The video was also very fun to make, altough it turned out a bit Low Quality-ish in the end, mainly because of one of the programs I use to make videos (Honestech that is) and YouTube's uploading system (which is not that good by the way). Since Viacom International has been removing some of my videos from my YouTube account, I added a disclaimer on the video. The video is for promo use only, period. A second single is being chosen, and the video for it will be on the making soon, so expect a new premiere soon :D... It all comes down to this in the end : I really hope you all like it, cuz this one means really something to me, and besides that, have fun!

Grammys 2007 : Winners and Performers

As promised, it's time to reveal the 2007 Grammy Awards winners. Now, if you ask me, this year's awards weren't as much as entertaining as the previous years. C'mon, where was that Madonna vs. Gorillaz feeling... or 2005's great mash-up performance by Gwen Stefani, the Black Eyed Peas, Franz Ferdinand, Los Lonely Boys, and Maroon 5? All I'm saying is that this year's Grammys were boring. Yes, boring. I only got a bit cheered up when Nelly Furtado, Natasha Bedingfield and Nicole Scherzinger came on stage or David Spade comparing himself and Rihanna with David Bowie and wife Iman. Of course Beyoncé's and Christina Aguilera's performances were quite great, even Robyn Troup did an amazing job with Justin, but that was all. It all got so predictable with the Dixie Chicks winning every single award. I was rooting for James Blunt or Corrine Bailey Rae to win the Best New Artist award, but after all that country wining, I knew Carrie Underwood would win... And so she did. Anyway, hope next year it'll be better... So, first up, some of the performances ;)
