Kelis has recently released her second video from
Kelis Was Here on Europe. American second single
Blindfold Me (which didn't become a single after all, no release due to unknown reasons) was scratched from European release after failing on the U.S.. Instead,
Kelis' European label, Virgin decided to release her collaboration with
Gnarls Barkley's half
Cee-Lo Lil' Star as a second single. Possibily due to
Cee-Lo's recent popularity... I like
Blindfold Me better than
Lil' Star, but unfortunatly it's one of those underrated great club tracks (like
Janet's
So Excited). Nonetheless,
Lil' Star is a good song, and hopefully it will increase
Kelis' popularity and sell more than first single
Bossy, booting the sales of her quite good fourth album. The video is very imaginative and original (like any other
Kelis' video... except
Bossy maybe...), and we get a free ride through the universe... Though great, not her greatest video for me...
Trick Me was far better, very simple but very smart... So, enjoy

Back in 2001, Kelis released her second album Wanderland, which was produced by The Neptunes, like her debut Kaleidoscope was. If you remember Kaleidoscope you must remember the sassy "I hate you so much right now"... Now, do you remember 2001's Wanderland? Probably not. That's because it's Kelis' most unsuccessful album to date. It wasn't even released on the U.S. due to poor sales of first and only single Young, Fresh n' New. The track failed to chart on Northern American ground, but made its way to a British number 32. The album didn't spawned any more singles, probably because the first single flopped, but also because the label and Kelis herself disliked the album. Well, if you ask me why Young, Fresh n' New flopped, I'd say it was probably because of lack of promotion. They just didn't cared much about it. The track is one of Pop's greatest moments (at least I think so) and the video was quite fresh and innovative, and, read and underline this, it featured Heidi Klum! So... with all those ingredients, it should be more than a mere number 32 huh?
