The Orchestra, The Rhythm & The Drum

Some weeks ago I was going through Wikipedia to check some things about Nelly Furtado, and in the bottom of her page there was this link to "Portuguese Canadians", and you know, as I am portuguese myself, I got curious. In that page the name Keshia Chanté popped up, and I got even more curious, cuz you know, that's not really a portuguese name at all... And then I've learned Keshia is an half Trinidadian half Portuguese singer! I really got happy because after Nelly Furtado, comes now an R'n'B artist who is also a portuguese descendant. Also what made me happy was that she is my age... She's just 13 days older than me! And then I got to hear her music... "Been Gone" was the first I heard from her, and that is genius! I love that Vivaldi sample... And she's hitting the US... There's plenty of good reviews for her so, I think she'll be a hit... Anyway, enough talkin', you know what to do ;)

Come a Little Closer

And Amerie finally released her follow up to "Touch". "Take Control" is now hitting everything there is to hit... Except that I don't think Mi Marie will have another huge hit like "1 Thing"... at least this soon... But you know, she's on her own way, so, I like that. "Touch" (the single, not the album) was a great tune though, it could have been her second big hit, if they would released it a bit later... With "1 Thing" still spinning, people don't care about a brand new single... It's kinda the same thing Rihanna is going through right now with "We Ride", though not because of "Unfaithful" but because of her next single "Break It Off", which began spinning before "We Ride" did, killing the 3rd single from "A Girl Like Me"... Anyway, "Take Control" is a catchy tune, a bit similiar to Beyoncé's "Crazy In Love" or "Déjà Vu" (maybe that's why all the fuss between the ladies), but still, I like it... It comes 3rd on my Amerie's fav singles chart, behind "1 Thing" and "Touch". So, watch the video (I like it), take a listen, or if you feel like it, download the tune... Enjoy!

La Isla Bonita

When I first heard that Jennifer Lopez was recording a spanish album, I though to myself "Oh no...", cuz you know, on her previous albums, her spanish songs we're just a little bit.. ahem... Anyway, then "Que Hiciste" leaked (about 2 or 3 weeks ago? Maybe?) And I never got the urge to listen to it. Maybe because "Que Hiciste" sounded like some kind of spanish ballad, or maybe because "Como Ama Una Mujer" is not exactly the best album title that came to my knowledge. Anyway, bout half an hour ago I felt like putting my curiosity to an end, and so I went online to give it a listen. I first listen this remixed version of the song, and I must say, that was HOT! It's perfect for the clubs, and you even forget that you're listening to spanish (mind you, I'm not hating on spanish, but lately the best spanish tracks we're Shakira's so...). Then I got to listen the original version, and I must say, it's not as good as the remix, but the chorus is still hot!...
Either way, I personally hope the remix version would come out as a single instead of the original version...

Anyway, you can take a listen over here :

Have You Confessed ?

I saw this last night and totally loved it. So I had to post it here. I really got nothing else to say, cuz you really need to watch it to be amazed. Anyway, here's some info on the tour from Wikipedia.
The tour began on May 21, 2006 at The Forum in Los Angeles, USA and continued to major cities across America in including Las Vegas, Chicago, as well as dates in Montreal (Canada), New York City (6 performances), Boston and Miami. On July 30 the tour moved to Europe, launching at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. After moving onto Wembley Arena in London the tour stopped in Italy, Germany, Denmark (85,232 tickets sold), France, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Russia (her first ever appearance in the latter two countries, and in the whole of the former Eastern-European block) before moving to Japan. Madonna had hoped to end the tour in Australia, but the logistics did not work out. She issued an apology to her Australian fans on her official website and has stated that she isn't retiring anytime soon and will come soon.
Main Show
Future Lovers / I Feel Love
Get Together
Like a Virgin / Jump
Interlude: Dancers' Confessions / Live To Tell
Forbidden Love / Isaac
Sorry / Like It Or Not
Interlude: Sorry (Remix)
I Love New York
Ray of Light / Let it Will Be
Drowned World / Substitute For Love
Paradise (Not For Me)
Interlude: Roller Dance: Disco Inferno / Music
Erotica / La Isla Bonita
Lucky Star
Hung Up

Madonna described the tour as "turning the world into a giant dancefloor".
The show is divided into four separate acts with different themes: Equestrian, Bedouin, Never Mind the Bollocks, Disco.
Scenes in the opening number, "Future Lovers" and "I Feel Love", were taken from Madonna's 2006 photoshoot with Steven Klein for 'W' magazine.
The tour has generated international controversy due to its use of Christian religious iconography. While singing "Live to Tell", Madonna hangs from a mirrored cross wearing a crown of thorns around her head. Christian, Jewish and Muslim groups in North America and Europe came together to criticize what they saw as Madonna's exploitation of "sacred" Christian symbols. In response, Madonna personally and publicly invited Pope Benedict XVI to see the show while in Rome - insisting that she was doing the controversial act to raise awareness and money for orphans abandoned in Africa (particularly Malawi) due to HIV/AIDS and that "Jesus wouldn't mind." (While she sings "Live To Tell," in the background run haunting images of the devestation wreaking havoc in Africa right now. On top, a count begins from 0 until it reaches 12 million - the number of orphans created by HIV/AIDS in Africa alone [2006 UN estimate]).
The version of "Erotica" performed in this show includes lyrics from an early demo version of the song, commonly known by fans as "You Thrill Me".
Yitzhak Sinwani (who is featured on the album track "Isaac") sings along side Madonna for the same song and joins her on renditions of "Paradise (Not For Me)", "Drowned World/Substitute For Love", and La Isla Bonita.
Initially, Madonna was to perform the songs "Deeper and Deeper" and "Everybody" but replaced them in favor of "Erotica" and "La Isla Bonita". She rehearsed these and even performed Everybody during her Confessions promo tour throughout various nightclubs.
Singer, Lenny Kravitz, who also appeared in the audience during numerous shows, joined Madonna live on stage for the song I Love New York at one of the Paris gigs.

And the nominees are...

And the nominees list for the 2007 Grammy Awards just came out. I was really pleased with this year's nominees, though Nelly Furtado could have more than just one nomination ( Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals for Promiscuous with Timbaland, which they'll probably lose to Mary J. Blige's One with U2). And I was also really pleased and surprised for The Pussycat Dolls' nomination for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal for Stickwitu, they really deserve it. Other nominees include Justin Timberlake, Shakira, Madonna, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gnarls Barkley, Natasha Bedingfield, James Blunt, Corrine Bailey Rae and Mary J. Blige (with 8 nominations), among others...
